Solo Crash on I-280 Claims One Life –1 dead, 2 injured in solo crash on I-280 in Los Altos Hills
LOS ALTOS HILLS – A Monday morning solo vehicle crash on Interstate 280 resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:50 a.m. southbound, north of El Monte Road. According to the CHP, a Honda Accord traveled into the center median and crashed head-on into a tree.
A female passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver and a front-seat passenger, both sustaining major injuries, were transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The condition of the survivors was not immediately disclosed.
The CHP’s preliminary investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash. The incident caused significant disruption to the morning commute along the southbound lanes of I-280.
