Ryan G. Smith Peoria Obituary- Pedestrian Struck on Route 116 Dies from Injuries
EAST PEORIA – A Peoria man struck by a vehicle on Route 116 Thursday evening has died from his injuries.
The fatal incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at approximately 8:05 p.m. near the Paradice Casino. East Peoria police, fire, and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
The pedestrian, 42-year-old Ryan G. Smith of Peoria, was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition and unresponsive. Despite aggressive medical care, Smith was pronounced deceased less than 24 hours later, at 4:42 p.m. on April 3.
According to authorities, Smith suffered multiple and severe blunt force trauma injuries from the collision. Toxicology testing is pending, as required by Illinois State Statute.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the East Peoria Police Department. No further details regarding the circumstances of the collision or the involved vehicle have been released at this time.
